Low Fees
my529 has some of the lowest fees in the 529 industry.
my529’s Asset-Based Fee structure has two parts:
- The Underlying Fund Expenses of the underlying investments.
- The my529 Administrative Asset Fee, which pays for operating expenses.
Together these make up the total annual Asset-Based Fee for your my529 account.
Underlying Fund Expenses
Vanguard and Dimensional charge an Underlying Fund Expense for each underlying fund.
The Underlying Fund Expenses do not appear on your clients’ quarterly statements because Vanguard and Dimensional deduct them from the applicable underlying fund. The performance and market values of an account containing Vanguard or Dimensional funds include the deduction of any fund expenses.

There is no Underlying Fund Expense assessed on FDIC-insured accounts.
Depending on which investment option your client selects for his or her account, the fund expenses range from:
Options | Fee Range |
---|---|
Enrollment Date Investment Options | 0.031 percent to 0.037 percent |
Static Investment Options | 0.000 percent to 0.111 percent |
Customized Investment Options | 0.000 percent to 0.350 percent |
Administrative Asset Fee
The Administrative Asset Fee is an annual fee charged by my529 against your client’s account.
Fees are based on the value of your account. For example, a fee of 0.100 percent equals $1.00 per $1,000 invested annually. A fee of 0.050 equals 50 cents per $1,000 invested annually.
The Administrative Asset Fee is 0.100 percent to 0.140 percent, depending on which Enrollment Date, Static, or Customized investment option your client selects for his or her account:
Options | Fee Range |
---|---|
Enrollment Date Investment Options | 0.110 percent |
